We’re not big on brand-based evaluations, but we do believe that secondhand should never cost more than buying something new. To keep things fair and balanced, the amount of store credit you receive depends on three factors:
- The category your item falls into (e.g., outerwear, dresses, or tops)
- Whether it’s in good enough condition to be rented at least once
- Whether it’s considered fast fashion or not
Now, here’s the tricky part—many brands fall into the “fast fashion” category, even some that are a bit pricier. To keep things simple, we define fast fashion as anything from SHEIN, H&M, or ZARA. We’ve chosen to award slightly less value to these brands because of the sheer volume of items we receive from them and because they already sell clothes at heavily discounted prices. However, if you donate an item to us from another fast fashion brand that is not SHEIN, H&M, or ZARA and we believe the item can be purchased new for less than what we would charge for a non-fast-fashion item in our store, we may also categorize the item as fast fashion for store credit purposes.
So when you donate your clothes to Dematerialized, your store credit is based on these criteria. You can view the exact credit amounts for each category in the table below:
- Outerwear, Blazers, and Sets
- Not Fast Fashion: € 5
- Fast Fashion: € 3
- Dresses and Jumpsuits
- Not Fast Fashion: € 4
- Fast Fashion: € 2
- Tops and Bottoms
- Not Fast Fashion: € 3
- Fast Fashion: € 1
- Basics

We keep our prices intentionally low so that the credits you earn translate to real value when you rent or shop with us.
Please note that all donations are final, so only donate items if you’re comfortable with the evaluation outcome—even if that means receiving €0 in store credit.
